WELCOME!

We are a homeschool pack of Cub Scouts devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are a practicing Catholic group that welcomes other Christian, homeschooled boys. Because we are a homeschool pack, the opportunities to go and see attractions and attend events during the day without "missing school" are limitless. We avoid crowds, access events with better guidance, and obtain better educational opportunities for our boys in a more private setting. Within our pack we currently have Tiger (approximately grade 1 or 6-7 years old), Wolf (approximately grade 2 or 7-8 years old), Bear (approximately grade 3 or 8-9 years old), and Webelo I (approximately grade 4 or 9-10 years old) and Webelo II (approximately 10-11) dens.

We had a very active third year in 2011/2012 that included:

  • Community service opportunities, such as raking leaves for the home-bound homeowner.
  • Marching in the Gates Mill Parade
  • Packing supplies for a hunger center
  • Serving at the Mother's Day Luncheon in Mayfield Village
  • Providing water cups for the runners at the annual Debbie Hudack run for the cure for cancer
  • Participating in the Pinewood Derby
  • Learning how to sew, (made wallets and bean bags), cooked, and learned how to do basic carpentry as we all made bird houses. We also had many scientific field trips that explored while hiking and star gazing.
  • We learned how to hook, bait, and catch fish at Veteran's Park.
  • We kept physically fit with attempting gymnastics with various apparatus and skills testing throughout the year.
  • We visited a construction site to learn more about engineering.

Our meetings are held twice a month on Wednesdays in the afternoon in Mayfield Village with some meetings being field trips to other locations, such as nearby Metroparks. Our kickoff meeting will be on September 12th - Mass followed by play and meeting on the playground.

We have one fundraiser at the beginning of our scouting year in the fall that includes selling Trails End popcorn and snacks. The boys work so hard that this one fundraiser keeps our individual dues low and provides the funds we need to offer a variety of learning opportunities for our pack.
